CHAPTER 11 (From Apocalypse)
I finally dragged myself home at around an hour until dawn.
I was exhausted as I went through the back door, through the kitchen and up the stairs.
Up at the top of the stairs, right across the hall from the door to Lord Hamunaptra's room, was my own little room.
Because I was the only girl, I had my own room. I didn't have to share with the other nine boys.
I opened my door and walked into my room.
My room was small, about ten feet by ten feet. There wasn't any carpet, but I had a nice bed that had big fluffy pillows.
There was a window overlooking the courtyard.
I opened my closet and slipped out of my Maker's uniform. I grabbed a big over-sized shirt and slipped it on.
As I was pulling my shirt over my head, I heard something behind me, and I turned, startled, to find Lord Hamunaptra leaning against my doorjam, wearing a robe, his midnight and gold hair hanging down, free from ponytails of any sort, falling near his waist.
I blushed and pulled my shirt down, hurridly.
"Master, you startled me." I said, softly.
He smiled slightly. "We found Lady Heaven." He said.
I smiled. "Oh?"
He nodded. "Yes."
"Where was she?"
"Hard to say." He said, making a face. "She was delivered to us at Lord Hell's mansion, from an innerdimensional pocket in the wall."
"Huh?"
"She appeared from thin air." Hamunaptra said. "Don't tell the others, Poca-chan, but something bad is happening. And quite frankly, I don't know what."
I took a few steps toward Hamunaptra.
"What do you mean?" I whispered.
He shook his head. "I'm not sure." He said. "I sent Ragnarok to inform Val Hall and Tir Na Nog that the crisis is over. Lady Heaven is safe."
I smiled. "Thank you."
He nodded. "You needed some sleep." He sighed. "You have a big day ahead of you tomorrow."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Lady Heaven needs to borrow your services." He said.
"Aw, Master..." I said, making a face and sighing. "I hate helping the angels..."
"Yes, but you're the only one of my Makers that's skillfull enough to handle the high-stress levels of an Angelic workload." He said. Then he lowered his voice. "Lady Heaven fired Charity."
"What??" I cried.
Hamunaptra nodded. "And that leaves her without an Alpha Angel."
"You want me to fill in for Alpha Angel??"
He nodded. "Just until she can select the next Alpha."
"Why did she fire Charity?"
"I'm not sure." he said. "I'm sure she had her reasons, though..."
I lowered my eyes.
"We have to find Zappa's Ghost." I said. "It all started with that, didn't it?"
Hamunaptra's eyes narrowed. "Perhaps you're right..."
I sighed. "Master, I'm worried."
Suddenly, his hand was on my shoulder. I looked up at him and he was smiling, warmly, his eyes sparkling like the nile.
"Don't get too worried, my only girl."
I smiled and sighed.
"I know you don't want to help out Heaven..." He said. "I'll tell you what. I'll take you out for breakfast before your first appointment tomorrow, alright?"
My eyes widened.
"Really??"
He smiled. "Of course."
I smiled. "Thank you, Master."
"Now get some sleep." He said.
I nodded. And he left my room.
I fell onto my bed, all giddy.
How would I ever sleep?
