Review for "Cowboy Bebop Movie Knockin' on heaven's door"
Rating ** 1/2*
Synopsis: Spike, Faye, Ed, and Jet want to catch the man with the biggest bounty on him yet. In the middle of hunting him down, they have to avoid the virus that is catching all over Tokyo, and the further they go, the more involved they get.
Review: Take the Cowboy Bebop series. Stretch one episode to a hundred minutes. No replace half the famous antics and jokes with red herrings, bad science, and confusing and superfluous scenes. The villain is trying to get his revenge on humanity, because of one secret government agency (that doesn't make much sense). He begins spreading a virus around Tokyo. Doctors describe the virus as 'More like Aids than smallpox.' A disease spread through air, and kills people in a few days is more like Aids than Smallpox, right. The plot is more confusing than gripping. Exactly who is Electra and why is she suddenly involved in this? Why does she have an immunity to the disease? The fight scenes in the series are quite short, but exciting and plot-important. They're long, boring, and have almost nothing to do with the plot in the Movie. Spike get shot and thrown out a monorail window (just like episode five) and lands in the water beneath. Later he's rescued by some bum. (How does some bum rescue you if you're fifty feet from land and sinking?) There's a lot of symbolism and prophetic ranting towards the end. The bad guy goes on and on about seeing butterflies on Saturn which has nothing to do with anything. He wants to spread the virus because he has the antidote for it and now society will shun him, for some reason.
Notes: Blood, violence, and medical babble.
Misc: Judging from the pictures of the 'butterflies' on Saturn, they were moths, not butterflies. Also, I didn't know Ed was a girl until I saw this. There is a very funny scene involving her and some guy in a slip. Do not try to learn science form this movie
