Review for Sakura Diaries

Rating:* 1/2*

Synopsis: It's your ususal love triangle: boy wants girl, other girl wants boy, no plot.  The catch is, the other girl is his cousin whom the boy is living with.

Review:  My friend bought the series thanks to the wonderful art, which is the only good thing about this story.  The looks are good, but the animation is only so-so.  The breasts move a bit too much and seem to change size in different scenes.  Touma can't get into any college, but then he meets Mieko and falls in love with her.  Mieko will only date men in college (picky, picky), so he pretends he got in. Touma now has to study for next year's college exams and pretend he goes to college.  Meanwhile, the happy bubbly (no brains, class, or clue) Urara tries everything to get her cousin.  She wears nothing but an apron to dinner, pretends she's a whore and goes to his hotel, asks to have a 'college type' party at their house and gladly plays strip jan-ken-pon (rock-paper-scissors), washes his back with her breasts.  No matter what he does, fantasizes about Mieko, refuses, tries to rape her, refuses, she just keeps trying.

At the end you find out that a boy Mieko was seen kissing by Urara, is her boyfriend who's in France.  When you first see that scene, you merely assume she's a slut.  At the end of the long, drawn out series, Mieko suddenly tells Touma she has a boyfriend. Touma is crushed for three minutes and then is just his loser self.  He tells Urara he wants to move out and Urara is crushed.  Then it ends, very unresolved.

Misc:  There is ascene where Urara washes Touma's back, she pours two buckets of water on his back.  She does this in a conventional bathroom.  This should always be done somewhere with a drain in the floor, like a traditional japanese bathhouse.  Urara just dumped two buckets of water all over the bathroom floor, and later she will have to mop it up.
