| Background Info | Haruko is an alien whose potential real name is Haruha Raharu, and she only says she's 19. Her actual age is unknown. She lands on Earth in pursuit of the most powerful alien known: the 'Pirate King' Atomsk, which is in the clutches of Medical Meccanica. Haruko goes through all this effort simply because she loves Atomsk (or possibly the power he possesses), although he doesn't return any affections to her. Haruko always wears a collar around her neck that flashes whenever Atomsk is close, symbolizing just how chained she is to her mad desire. The only way to free Atomsk is to get him through an N-O channel, which the main hero Naota Nandaba has in his head. Thus, Haruko settles herself into the Nanbada household as a maid to stay close to Naota, though she doesn't do any household chores at all. Haruko possesses a very odd personality. While she *appears* to be helping others, in reality she's only helping herself get closer to her goal. This is evident in the final episode where Atomsk flies away and Haruko leaves Earth on a new chase, even though she's aware of Naota's budding feelings for her. The only thing she leaves as a memento is one of her guitars, and clearly doesn't care about Naota's feelings otherwise: Haruko is that devoted to Atomsk. Haruko's speech is equally tricky to understand, since she acts like such an oddball all the time, true statements can be passed off as folly. Couple these together, and Haruko becomes a life-changing catalyst to those around her. |
