| Background Info | Lain is a quiet 13-year-old girl in modern-day Japan, the youngest in the Iwakura family. At school, her introversion leaves her unnoticed by most classmates. At home, she appears younger than she is, her room filled with plush animals and her outfit of choice being a bear costume. Daily life is not so ordinary to her, despite her family's relative inactivity, as she is witness to many odd illusions about her. Her interaction with the Wired is minimal before the story's beginning. She owns a small and outdated "Navi", but her interest in the Wired blossoms with the e-mail she receives from her dead friend Chisa. This unlocks an interest in the child, as her father purchases the most recent and state-of-the-art Navi for her... |
