A communications officer and former seiyuu (voice actor). Before joining the crew of the Nadesico she worked on "Magical Girl Laichi". She is unsure about the current war, and wishes that Akito would just stop fighting. Unfortunately, this attitude has put herself into trouble on more than one occasion. Still, she remains a valuable part of the Nadesico crew. Deeply caring and passionate, after the death of Yamada Jiro (Gai Daigoji) and the destruction of those on Satsuki Midori 2 colony, she and Akito seem to understand each other when no one else can understand them. Megumi tells Akito that someone does care (contrary to what he thinks) but he takes this as a sign of encouragement (she was trying to hit on him - the dolt). But it does lead in to the two falling in love (much to the disbelief of Yurika). Unlike any of Akito's other interests (such as Yurika or Ryoko), Megumi likes to take their relationship to an adult level at times. Megumi thus considers Yurika as her rival, although Yurika is too air-headed to even notice. Megumi & Akito's relationship falls apart when he chooses to protect the world (a world that includes Yurika...) instead of protecting only Megumi. |
