Many thanks to Alton Downes for providing a translation of the UY Tracks I posted the scans of last week. That really helped out. ^_^ Also to Stefan Bürbaum for doing something nearly impossible -- provinding new Bagi material. He wonders where to find a copy of that movie -- and so do I, actually.

From KEIII comes a new new entry for the Find the Dragon section. An image of the Little Purple Dragon, but not quite. Instead of the small dragon, she drew a girl of his species. You can find it in the Find the Dragon section.

Many new entries for the AMOK page, as well as a new prize that has been added to the ones already there. Lindsay and Jared over at Cutepet are providing one of their 'How to CG' CDroms as a prize for AMOK. I ordered mine a while ago, and it's pretty sweet. Lots of examples.

Okay, now I'd like to ask your help on a little something I'm working on. I would like to translate (or at least romanize) the CD track titles of the Urusei Yatsure CD collection (there's 15 cds in there!), so I can give them an at least slightly meaningful title when MP3ing them. If you want to help out -- Here are scans of most of the CDs. (except 8, which doesn't need translation anymore). Your help would be very much appreciated.. :) Click on the thumbnail to get the full scan. (I've looked around, but there doesn't seem to be translation around..)

The Artist's Database has no yet been updated -- the version running now is an older one (Two weeks ago). I am waiting for a domain transfer to finish, after which the database will be up to date. (Don't worry, no data will be lost in the process. :)

A new shrine -- JyNx sneaks in. She isn't actually from any set series, but since E! asked nicely, and there is a nice amount of art and fan-art of her, she appears. (Who's to object one catgirl more? :)

I was considering several of the (original) Macross girls as additions -- Misa Hayase and Claudia, to be precise. If you have artwork lying around and feel like helping out, please send it this way. I think both deserve a shrine - anyone growing up with Robotech will agree, I'm sure. :)

There's been a bit of a change in groupboard land -- Where there was one, there are now two boards. The public one, the Outer Sanctum, is where everyone can doodle to their heart's desire. If you feel creative, check it out here: Outer Sanctum. Its is a multi-user drawing board where you can draw with people from all over the planet at the same time and cooperate on images.

For those familiar with the Oekaki board, we're currenty working on a new version, writing it from the ground up. If you want to suggest new things to add, or see what others have suggested and comment on that, check out the Oekaki Section of the messageboard.

New shrine! Just for a change, a character from a Japanese cardgame was added. Those of you who keep an eye on the message-area already saw it coming, but for those new to her: Black Magician Girl. She's a 'rare' card from some obscure cardgame. I have no idea if the game is popular, but I certainly hadn't heard of it before. Enjoy. ^_^

I went to see two movies yesterday -- Swordfish and Down. The former was okay, but no Oscar material, but the second one (Down) was really, really bad. It's a remake of a Dutch movie called 'De Lift', and nothing more than that. I liked the original a lot better. ^_^

One of the four file servers has gone down, and I have no idea when it will be back. (If ever).. the people maintaining the servers there haven't replied to email yet.. The server currently unavailable is cgs.cgirealm.com. If you have it in your bookmarks, remove it. I went to England for a few days, to visit Jason and Aurelia (Hi! :), and spend an evening in Greater Yarmouth, which is one of those 'typical' seaside places. Like a mini-Las Vegas on the English coast.. lots of arcades and plenty of places to get rid of your money. One particular games was good fun to see -- EX2Dancer. (www.ez2dancer.co.kr), which is like a Korean clone of the Dance Dance game, but not just feet, you have to wave your arms, too. ^_^ also saw one of those crane-machines, with plushe Spyro dragons, but I couldn't get to give me one. :(

I've added a new section, called the 'Doh! Archive', where you can read some of the insane, silly or just plain weird emails I receive, for your amusement. (Most make me laugh, anyway.) I got two new toys -- a brand new Wacom a5 tablet, and Anarchy Online -- finally! Only took like a month to arrive here. >_< Anyone else playing AO and wanting to team up, help out or generally give me lots of money, drop me an email.. ^_^

Both normal and hentai has been added to Felicia's shrine. :) This week's update is well over 50mb in size, which means that I'm going to have to upload 200mb of artwork to the four fileservers. Blue Mary and Rydia have been pushed back a week -- leaving you a few extra days to send any works you might have lying around. ;)

4th Year Online!

May 10th 2001 was the date -- the CG Shrines have been online for FOUR years now. Reason enough for a little party, I should thing. Kai sends a special Congratulatory Gift-art to celebrate.

The database has been moved to a SQL server, which means that the searches and the artist's database should respond a lot faster to searches. (And not crash anymore). The database is currently in transit, and I cannot add data for a day or two, so this week's updates are not yet entered -- and new artists have not been added, so everyone who send artwork and wasn't in the database yet, will be added next week. (Your artwork arrived, not to worry. :) As soon as I can, the missing information will be added.

A new entry for MUCK arrived, from A.Duster -- who decided to colour the Pink & Cheshire entry, and three entries for the new AMOK contest have arrived already. One arrived only hours after I put it online last week.. :)

Another week, another update. :)

The rebuild of the search-engine and artist's database is finished, but as it turns out, Access can't handle more than about 5 handles at the same time. Which means that when many people try to access that database at the same time, it can't created enough entries. In which case it'll pop up an Unknown Error. (Took me a while to figure that one out.) Until I manage to move the database to a real database server (A nice MS SQL server or somesuch), it might give you an error. Just reload the page after a few moments, or come back at another time.

AMOK12 has ended and all it's winners have been notified... and AMOK14 starts of today. Go check out the new subject and get drawing. :)

... And then there was light.

We're back! I finished rewriting everything that was needed, as since you're reading this without smoke pouring from your pc (I should hope), that means the update went well, too.

I'd like to thank Vash and Tsunami for their immediate help with a rewrite of HTMangLer (the program that compiles these pages), and a program that retrieved artist data from the existing pages, respectively. Not all artistlinks survived I fear, but a good 99% are still there. The database is up to date, and all art is in there, anyway.

Further thanks to those who send their condoleances and sympathies for the loss -- it was appreciated. Those things help, when you toil away into the night rebuilding rather boring code. Ghost is your friend -- I'm backing up the whole shebang regularly. ^_^

The Oekaki Board is running smoothly, with well over 120 entries already -- however, with both the Groupboard and the Oekaki board, the shrines receive no specific gift-art anymore.. >_< .. but as long as you're having fun.. :)

Several possible new shrines are being considered: Amelia (Slayers) -- I but I need more 'normal' artwork before I can build it, and Joan (War of Genesis III), but that will be difficult, as the game is nearly unknown. I have three beautiful images of her so far. :)

AMOK12 has ended with this update, and no new entries will be accepted for the prizes. Next week the winners will be announced and we'll start AMOK14 (We'll skip 13 - I've had my quotum of bad luck this year with that crash... ;) - the subject I can tell you already will be the CG Shrines themselves. Coming May 10th, the site will have been online for 4 years, and that's enough reason to celebrate, I think.. So the subject will be: Draw as many of the characters currently residing in the shrines together. :)

Someone (I forgot his name, I fear), asked which anime/manga had the very first appearance of a catgirl. That was a question I didn't immediately have an answer for.. But I believe that that was Bagi, in a movie by the same name, released in 1984. I'd love to add a shrine just for the fact that was the very first catgirl to appear, but, you guessed it, artwork is very hard to find. I know next to nothing about the movie, save a short synopsis, and a dozen screenshots. Send, if you have additional information or material.

Okay, the rebuild is proceeding well. There are still some issues, but as a whole, it's progressing better than I expected. It isn't done yet, but here's a progress-list. The Character shrines are the most work. Thanks to a program Tsunami wrote, the Artwork info files were taken care of rapidly.

Bad News
My workstation decided to honour me with a small recreation of the First Impact, utterly devastating everything stored there. That is bad news. Why? Because that drive contained everything shrine-related, including the mastercopy, all the updates, the scripts and whatnot. That means I have to rewrite the scripts (the backup is, of course, hopelessly out of date. I had backups, but those were on the same physical drive, if in other partitions.) (Anyone out there willing to donate a HD?)

More Bad News
One learns something new every time, and fate catches up with us all, eh? However, this means that until I finish recreating all the scripts needed to run the shrines, I cannot update. At this time, it looks like that will take me several days (evenings/nights) to do. No update this week, and hopefully, cross- your-fingers, maybe, next week.)

Even More Bad News
As all the material was lost, I also lost everything emailed to me since last update. If you send me material, or information, please resend it, even if I emailed you in reply already. All the saved artwork was lost, that also means that the shrines I was preparing (like Beatrix), are gone as well.

Good News
Yes, there is good news as well. :) The Oekaki board is finished, and it managed to avoid the crash. You can now draw at http://ironmouse.za.org/cgi-bin/doekaki/oekaki.cgi and watch the saved artwork at http://ironmouse.za.org/cgi-bin/doekaki/picture.cgi

The Groupboard has passed the 1500 saved images with this update. You can check out the saved artwork here, if you a lot of time.. :) Work on an Oekaki board is progressing rapidly. I expect it to be up and running by next update.
